BING YI LIAO
PRODUCTION DESIGNER
Bing-Yi (Oyster) Liao is a production designer born and raised in Taiwan. She received her bachelor's degree in Mass Communication at Chinese Culture University, which piqued her filmmaking interests in 2006. Having worked in Taiwan's film industry for more than 17 years, she has accomplished various film genres and held positions as Art Director in films, such as, "LOVE IN TAIPEI (2023)," which is currently on Netflix and Apple TV.
Selected film production design credits include: "LISTEN BEFORE YOU SING (2021)," "FALL IN LOVE AT FIRST KISS (2018)," " Mon Mon Mon MONSTERS! (2016)." Her design for "A CORNER (2015)" was nominated for the 50th Golden Bell Award for Best Production Design, the highest honor in Taiwan TV production. In 2023, she was awarded The AFI Scholarship endowed by THE DISNEY DIVERSE STORYTELLERS FUND, and now she is studying for her master's degree in Production Design at AFI CONSERVATORY.
What are you most looking forward to on this project? As a production designer, I’m always excited about visual storytelling, especially for stories full of imagination like PAPER BOY, which depicts emotions such as loneliness, sadness, and forgiveness; truly a heart-touching story. I’m looking forward to creating a world that delivers these feelings with my wonderful team!
